Course Name: Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30208)

The aged care industry is growing at a rapid rate due to the increasing numbers of older people in the population. Aged Care Services include community and residential care. Community care includes a range of services supporting people in home and community based settings. Residential care includes high care (nursing home), low care (hostel) and private retirement villages.

A  care worker is someone who is interested and comfortable working with older people in their various settings. The role involves enabling the client and their carer to maintain maximum independance. Specifically the role includes:

  • providing personal care - showering, dressing, feeding etc
  • Providing social support - community visiting, banking, shopping etc
  • providing leisure and lifestyle programs
  • participating in assessment processes for clients

    Entry Requirements this qualification

    • Ability to access a computer with broadband internet access. Access may be at home, in the workplace, a nearby worksite, library or other place where access is readily available. .
    • A proficiency in language, literacy and numeracy at the equivalent AQTF level (i.e. ability to write basic letters and reports in a clear and concise manner).
